Any contest that focuses solely on outward beauty, whether painted on or inherited, is seriously flawed. It may teach poise and how to work a stage, which I can understand would give a girl confidence for public speaking, etc. But putting confidence in your looks is totally the wrong message because looks don't last! I don't care who you are. What happens when you lose your looks? Are you then no longer confident? Beauty pageants are just wrong, wrong, wrong - on so many levels.
